Press Release:

Divine Living in Asheville North Carolina had been in the area for many years. But in 2016 we decided that we wanted to be part of the bigger picture and make a better difference right here in our local community. Phyllis, the owner, looked at several Non-Profits to work with, and ended up reaching out to Homeward Bound as furniture is one of the main needs when assisting people with moving out of homelessness and into a new residence.

Today, we are happy to announce that Divine Living is launching the 1st Annual Asheville Furniture Drive to benefit Homeward Bound. From August 16th – September 30th, we will be collecting gently used furniture and home decor items at 1856 Hendersonville Rd in south Asheville. Folks can either drop their items off, or arrange a pick-up time.

In addition to this, many local businesses are teaming up with Divine Living as Ambassadors. As an Ambassador, they will collect and gather at least three pieces of furniture from their employees and staff, to donate to the Asheville Furniture Drive. Together, we are going to make a big difference in so many lives. Stay tuned as we will be announcing our wonderful Ambassadors soon!

8 Household Projects to Leave to the Professionalsc461f0ac-52b8-4733-b874-c53b4eb894c3

via (www.ahs.com)

DIY home projects are great for saving money and enjoying a good challenge, but these household projects are better left for professionals.

For some people, DIY is just a way of life. But whether your goal is to save money or just to enjoy a good challenge, there are some projects that are simply better left to the professionals. Whatever you do, don’t try these at home.
1. Flooring

On the surface, flooring seems like the perfect DIY project. But in reality, there’s much more to it than ripping up the old and replacing with new. Whether it’s carpet, wood or tile, there are several steps that (if not done correctly) could mean starting all over again. Plus, you never know what you’ll find underneath. You could have previous flooring material that’s now warped, damaged or in serious need of staining. Then of course, there’s the sub floor, which could be cracked or rotten and would need to be addressed before anything else can be done.

On top of all of that, there’s the sheer amount of waste that comes with the project. Your trashcan is definitely not big enough to hold it all. Do yourself a favor and call a professional right from the start.

August Market Update

Home sales in June surged to their highest level in years, putting 2016 on track to be the best year for home sales since the recession. Near rock-bottom mortgage rates continue to lure more and more buyers into the market despite steadily rising prices and low inventory levels.
Interest Rates

Interest rates decreased slightly from the month prior and remain near all-time lows. Mortgage rates have declined recently due to the drop in U.S. Treasury rates created by the uncertainty surrounding the U.K.’s vote to leave the European Union.

You blast you’re A/C in the summer and crank your heat in the winter all in the name of achieving a comfortable temperature inside your home. A great way to save hundreds throughout the year is to invest in a smart thermostat – no more adjusting your thermostat throughout the day and wasting energy and money.

2. Low-Flow

Wasting water during baths and showers means your money is literally going down the drain. Replacing old and outdated shwerheads with new low-flow models could shave upwards of $100 off your annual water bill. Don’t be fooled by the name – most low-flow shower heads still provide excellent water pressure!

3. More is Less

July 2016 Market Update
Home sales in May accelerated for the third consecutive month, reaching levels not seen since early 2007. Strong demand and sustained ultra-low mortgage rates continue to overpower constrained inventory levels and a rising median sales price.
Interest Rates
Interest rates decreased slightly from the month prior and remain at historically low levels. Mortgage rates have recently declined due to increased uncertainty surrounding the global economy prompted by the UK voting to leave the European Union.
